Ultimate Soothing Herbal Tea for Caregivers

Working with kiddos is rewarding—but exposure to colds, flus, hand, foot and mouth disease, and other illnesses can leave you feeling run down. I’ve created a gentle, immune-supportive tea that helps soothe sore throats, ease mild ear discomfort, and support your respiratory system.

Herbs and Their Benefits

  • Fresh Ginger: Warms the body, supports immunity, and soothes throat and ear inflammation.
  • Mint (Peppermint or Spearmint): Opens nasal passages, eases throat irritation, and refreshes the senses.
  • Fennel Seed: Supports digestion, reduces throat inflammation, and offers gentle antimicrobial action.
  • Sage Leaf: Calms inflamed throats, helps with mild ear discomfort, and has antimicrobial properties.
  • Licorice Root: Coats and soothes the throat, eases coughs, and supports lungs and respiratory health.
  • Dandelion Root: Helps detoxify the liver and blood, supporting overall wellness.
  • Mullein: A gentle powerhouse for respiratory support—soothes the throat, eases ear discomfort, and helps clear lungs and congestion.

Herbal Tea Recipe (Quart-Sized Batch)

Ingredients:

  • 2–3 slices fresh ginger
  • 1–2 teaspoons dried mint leaves
  • 1 teaspoon fennel seeds
  • 1 teaspoon dried sage leaves
  • 1 teaspoon dried licorice root
  • 1 teaspoon dried dandelion root
  • 1–2 teaspoons dried mullein leaves/flowers
  • 4 cups boiling water

Instructions:

  1. Place all herbs in a quart-sized jar or heat-safe container.
  2. Pour boiling water over the herbs.
  3. Cover and let steep for 2–4 hours (longer for stronger root and mullein benefits).
  4. Strain carefully (mullein leaves can be fuzzy).
  5. Sip warm throughout the day. Add honey if you want extra throat-soothing sweetness.
