Self-control, confidence, joy—these aren’t just traits we hope kids grow into; they’re skills we can teach, nurture, and celebrate. At Soul Journey Guidance, every class is an opportunity for children—and the adults who join them—to practice these skills in a safe, playful, and supportive environment.
Embracing the Energy
Kids come into class full of energy, curiosity, and excitement—and that’s exactly where we start. Our sessions honor this natural enthusiasm with movement, games, and playful activities that allow children to explore and express themselves. Parents often share how much their kids love frolicking around the room, the open dance, and the moments of breath work and laying down meditation. Even children who aren’t usually drawn to yoga—because it feels like exercise—find themselves engaged, participating, and having fun.
Learning Self-Control Through Play
After that burst of energy, we guide the class into structure. Through routines, breathwork, and mindful exercises, children begin to learn the power of pause: how to stop, listen, and focus their attention. At Safekey, I’ve guided sessions with 30–40 kids in one room—high energy, high excitement. Teachers have expressed amazement at how the students are able to follow along, get wild and crazy, then shift into yoga poses, focus on breathwork, and transition into laying down meditation. Even children who typically shy away from activities engage gracefully and enjoy the experience.
Building Confidence
As children practice self-control, confidence blooms. They discover they can follow instructions, try new poses, and even calm themselves in challenging moments. Each success, no matter how small, reinforces their belief in themselves and their abilities. Parents and teachers alike notice that these skills carry over beyond class—into school, sports, and everyday life.
Joy at the Center
Throughout it all, joy remains at the heart of every session. Our classes move seamlessly from wild energy to calm focus, from movement to stillness, and from exploration to reflection. Children learn that self-control and mindfulness aren’t about restriction—they’re about choice, growth, and freedom.
Tools for a Lifetime
By combining yoga, mindfulness, and playful learning, we provide children—and adults—with tools they can carry with them beyond the mat. Whether it’s taking a deep breath in a stressful moment, focusing on a task, or simply finding calm amidst chaos, these are skills that support lifelong emotional and social growth.
I’ve been reflecting on the journey of these classes—from intimate one-on-one sessions to groups of five, and all the way up to 50 students. Each environment brings unique energy, and I continue to learn and grow alongside the children. Witnessing kids flourish—whether they’re shy, energetic, or reluctant—is the most rewarding part of this work.
Because my business is still small and growing, I fund most of the tools and resources myself. Right now, I have two duffel bags packed with yoga mats, but only 15 mats total. For a class of 50 students, I need more mats so everyone can fully participate. I also use scarves for dancing, small toys to keep kiddos engaged, and books for families and yoga learning—all of which I provide out of pocket.
If you feel drawn to support the work we’re doing, your contribution can help provide more mats, tools, and resources so that every child has what they need to fully enjoy and benefit from class. Any amount you give is deeply appreciated, and you can easily donate through the “Donate” button on our website. Your generosity helps make these experiences possible for more children and families.
At Soul Journey Guidance, healing is a journey, and every step counts. Every laugh, every breath, and every moment of focus builds the foundation for a more balanced, confident, and joyful life.
